Spurs vs Chelsea match preview

Chelsea have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games, though they have failed to score in 2 of their last 3. Spurs have lost their last 2 and have only kept 1 clean sheet in their last 9 games. The meeting earlier in the season was a 0-0 draw with 3 corners for each team and 2 Spurs and 4 Chelsea yellow cards. There is a very good chance that we see at least 1 or 2 goals. But Chelsea have failed to score in 2 of their last 3 and have only conceded 2 goals in their last 4 games. Spurs have failed to score or scored just 1 goal in 7 of their last 9. So whilst it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a couple of goals or both teams to score, the stats don’t point to a very high number of goals. Spurs have ended with less than 3 corners in 3 of their last 6 games. Chelsea have had 56 corners in their last 7 games (an average of 8 per game) and Spurs have given away 5 or more corners in 5 of their last 6 games. On their day Spurs can also contribute to the corners, and with 2 teams like this we feel it would be smarter to back on total match corners rather than both teams to have a certain amount of corners, as it would be no surprise to see Spurs have just 1 or 2 corners and Chelsea end up pushing double figures. Spurs opponents have had 17 yellow cards in their last 7 games, and in those 7 games their opponents were given 2 or more cards in 6 of them. Chelsea have had 13 yellow cards in their last 6 games, though they did not have any bookings in their last game.  Chelsea’s opponents have had at least 1 booking in all of their last 7 games. We expect a game with a couple of goals at least and a high number of corners that could be pushing towards double figures and its highly likely both teams have a player booked and the game should see at least 3 bookings. Though it is worth noting that this is the type of game where the stats can be made to look almost useless, with 2 teams that have allot of attacking talent on show and 2 managers who can set a team up to get a result in games like this. Hopefully we are in for an entertaining game with enough action to cover some bets.
