Blackpool vs Peterborough match preview

Peterborough have drawn 2, lost 2 and won 1 of their last 5 games and Blackpool have drawn 3 and won 2 of their last 5 games. Blackpool won the reverse fixture 2-1 with 3 Blackpool corners, 5 Peterborough corners, 2 Blackpool yellow cards and 3 Peterborough yellow cards.

Blackpool are unbeaten in their last 9 games, winning 5 and drawing 4. Blackpool have scored in 12 of their last 14 league games and they have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 12 games. Peterborough have scored in 10 of their last 11 league games and they scored 2 goals or more in 7 of those 11 games. Peterborough have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 16 league games.

Goals are hard to predict as Blackpool have been pretty solid at the back in recent games, Peterborough scored an average of 1.90 goals per game in their last 11 league game but Blackpool have been keeping allot of clean sheets lately and Blackpool have only scored more than 1 goal in 2 of their last 10 league games. So we are happy to leave goals in this game.

Blackpool have taken 2 or more corners in 32 of their 33 league games this season (96.96 of their games) and Peterborough have had 3 or more corners in 29 of their 35 league games this season (82.85% of their games) . Blackpool average 5.15 corners per game this season and Peterborough average 5 corners per game this season. Blackpool have had 6 or more corners in 5 of their last 6 league games. Blackpool have given away 4 or more corners in 8 of their last 10 league games. Peterborough have had 4 or more corners in 9 of their last 11 games. So it looks likely that both teams will have at least 3 corners here.

Peterborough average 1.20 yellow cards per game in their last 10 games and Blackpool have finished with no cards in 2 of their last 4 games.  So, with the recent form and the fact that the season stats for bookings don’t jump off the page, we are happy to leave cards alone on this one.

So the standout bet here is 3+ corners each team which looks to have a very good chance.

Bristol Rovers vs Swindon match preview

Bristol Rovers have lost 3, won 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games and Swindon have lost 4 and won 1 of their last 5 games. Swindon won 1-0 in the reverse fixture with 2 Swindon corners, 10 Bristol Rovers corners, 3 Swindon yellow cards and 2 Bristol Rovers yellow cards.

Swindon have scored in all of their last 4, and 7 of their last 8 games. Swindon have conceded at least 1 goal in 22 of their last 24 games. Bristol Rovers have been very inconsistent in front of goal lately. Their last 4 games have gone – scored 4 goals, failed to score, scored 2 goals then they failed to score again. Bristol Rovers have conceded at least 1 goal in 10 of their last 11 league games. Swindon have only managed to keep 3 clean sheets all season so we do think Bristol Rovers should score. Also 7 of the last 9 Swindon games have gone over 2.5 goals.

It would not be a shock if both teams score but Bristol Rovers have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 so they can’t be relied on and there was only 1 goal when these sides last met. So we are happy to leave goals in this one.

The corner stats for the season  don’t jump off the page and both teams have had some low corner games recently. Swindon have finished with 2 corners or less in 4 of their last 6 games and Bristol Rover finished with 2 corners or less in 4 of their last 10 league games. So we are happy to leave corners here as well.

Swindon have been given at least 1 card in 32 of their 36 league games this season (88.88% of their games) and Bristol rovers have been given at least 1 card in 29 of their 36 league games played this season (80.55% of their games). Swindon have ended with no cards in 2 of their last 5 games and Bristol Rovers have finished with no cards in 3 of their last 8 games. So whilst bookings wouldn’t be a surprise it’s not a market we are desperate to get involved with so this is a game where we would not recommend a bet.

Burton vs Shrewsbury match preview

Burton have won 3, lost 1 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games whilst Shrewsbury have drawn 3, won 1 and lost 1 of their last 5 games. The reverse fixture ended 1-1 with 9 Shrewsbury corners, 3 Burton corners and 3 yellow cards for each team.

Shrewsbury have scored in 9 of their last 10 league games and 22 of their last 25 league games. Shrewsbury have conceded in 8 of their last 9 league games. Burton have scored in all of their last 8 league games and 21 of their last 23 league games. Defensively Burton have massively improved in the 2nd half of the season. It took Burton 23 league games to keep their first clean sheet this season,  since then they have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 13 games. Both teams to score looks a good bet as both teams have scored in 7 of the last 9 Shrewsbury games and 4 of the last 8 Burton games, though the 4 Burton games where both teams didn’t score, Burton did score just their opponents didn’t. I wouldn’t bet in over 2.5 goals but feel both teams to score or especially over 1.5 goals look good bets.

We are happy to leave corners in this game. The corner averages and stats for both teams don’t point towards either being a banker on corners and Shrewsbury only average 2.71 corners per game in their last 7 games and Burton are too inconsistent for us to believe they will do most of the work should Shrewsbury have a low day. So corners is an angle we are happy to avoid.

Cards is another angle we are going to leave. 3 of the last 6 Shrewsbury games have finished with just 1 card or less for both teams combined and 3 of the last 4 Burton games have ended with just 2 cards or less.

So the best bet here is goals, with both teams to score and over 1.5 goals in particular looking very strong bets.

Northampton vs Oxford match preview

Both sides have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games. The reverse fixture ended 4-0 to Oxford with 8 Oxford corners, 2 Northampton corners, 2 Oxford yellow cards and 1 Northampton yellow card.

Oxford have failed to score in 6 of their last 9 league games and they have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 6 league games. Northampton have failed to score in their last 2 games. Being inconsistent in front of goal is nothing new to Northampton  who have now failed to score in 12 of their last 19 league games. Northampton have also kept 7 clean sheets in their last 16 league games. So goals are just too hard to predict as both teams have been very inconsistent at both ends of the pitch .

The issue with corners here is Oxford have been very consistent and usually hit 3 corners at least in each game, but they are not exactly prolific on corners and you wouldn’t want to rely on them to cover the majority of a bet should the team they are playing not contribute to the corner count much. Northampton are just too inconsistent with corners. In their last 10 games they have finished with 0 corners and just 1 corner, then they have hit double figures on their own in another game. So whilst corners wouldn’t be a surprise it’s not a bet that we can get behind as the risk/reward just doesn’t make sense at the odds available.

Northampton have been given at least 1 card in 33 of their 36 league games this season (91.66% of their games) and Oxford have been given at least 1 card in 27 of their 35 league games played this season (77.14% of their games).

Northampton have been given at least 1 card in all of their last 7 league games, and they average 2.85 yellow cards per game in those 7 games. Oxford have been given at least 1 card in 11 of their last 15 league games and they were given 2 cards or more in 8 of those games. We feel card are a good bet but we would stick to total match booking points over both teams to have a certain number of booking points. Oxford have finished with no cards in 3 of their last 7 so it wouldn’t be a massive shock if they ended with no cards, but we feel as Northampton’s opponents have been given at least 1 card in 5 of the last 6 Northampton league games, there should be at least 3 cards in the game.

12 of the last 13 Northampton league games have finished with at least 30 match booking points and 12 of the last 15 Oxford games have finished with at least 30 match booking points.

So 30+ match booking points looks the best bet here with us happy to leave goals and corners.
