AFC Wimbledon vs Wigan match preview

Wigan have won their last 2 so have now won 4 and lost 8 of their last 12 games. AFC Wimbledon are winless in their last 5, drawing 3 and losing 2. The reverse fixture was won 3-2 by AFC Wimbledon with 2 Wimbledon corners, 9 Wigan corners , 3 Wimbledon yellow cards and 1 Wigan yellow card. 2 teams at the bottom of the table who have both been very inconsistent across the board lately with results, goals, corners and cards. The season stats don’t point to any clear stand out bet either so for that reason this is a game where we would not recommend a bet.

Blackpool vs Burton match preview

Blackpool are unbeaten in their last 7 games winning 4 and drawing 3. Burton have won their last 6 games in  row keeping 4 clean sheets in their last 5 games. When the sides met earlier in the season it ended 2-1 to Blackpool with 2 Burton corners, 5 Blackpool corners, 2 Burton yellow cards and 1 Blackpool yellow card. Both sides recent success has been built on a solid defence. Blackpool have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 7 games and Burton have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 games. Blackpool have only scored more than 1 goal in 1 of their last 8 games and whilst Burton have scored 11 goals in their last 6 games we do feel that goals is a risky bet in this one due to the recent clean sheet record of both teams. Blackpool have had at least 3 corners in all but one of their games this season, the issue with corners is that whilst Blackpool are consistent with corners they rarely reach a number that would cover a bet should their opponents not contribute much to corners. Burton only average 3.66 corners per game in their last 9 games and Blackpool only average 4.72 corners a game in their last 9 games. So with recent form the averages would only just be enough for both teams to have at least 3 corners and the game to see at least 8, so far that reason we are happy to leave corners alone as well. Blackpool have ended the game with no bookings in 7 of their last 17 games and Burton are very inconsistent with cards as in their last 15 games they have ended with no cards in 6 games and 2 or more cards in 7 games. So whilst this game is not a lost cause we just feel there is too much doubt surrounding all potential betting angles so it’s a game that we would not recommend a bet.

Charlton vs Bristol Rovers match preview

Charlton are unbeaten in their last 4, winning 2 and drawing 2 whilst Bristol Rovers have lost 2, won 1 and drawn 1 of their last 4 games. The first time these sides met this season Charlton won 1-0 with 2 Bristol Rovers corners, 8 Charlton corners , 1 Charlton yellow card and 1 Charlton red card. Bristol Rovers have been very inconsistent in front of goal this season, in their last 25 games they have failed to score in 14 and have scored 2 goals 3 times, 3 goals 2 times and 4 goals twice. So on their day they can score goals but too many games they fail to find the goal at all. Charlton are more consistent and have scored at least 1 goal in 13 of their last 15 games. Defensively Charlton have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 20 games and they conceded 32 goals in those 20 games (an average of 1.6 goals per game) so whilst Bristol Rovers being inconsistent does cast some doubt around goals, we do believe that Charlton’s defensive record has shown they will concede goals. Corners and cards both look good bets without being bankers as this season Charlton have had 3 or more corners in 29 out of 35 games and received at least 1 card in 31 out of 35 games. Bristol Rovers have had at least 3 corners in 27 out of 34 games and received at least 1 card in 28 out of 34 games. So it looks likely that both teams will have at least 3 corners and receive at least 1 card each. So goals doesn’t look a bad bet though does carry some risk with Bristol Rovers being inconsistent, but corners and cards is also an angle to explore as the season stats point to a good chance that both teams have 3 corners and see at least 1 played booked each.

Lincoln vs Gillingham match preview

Gillingham have won 3 of their last 4 whilst Lincoln have lost 3 of their last 5, winning 1 and drawing 1. The reverse fixture ended 3-0 to Lincoln with 1 Lincoln corner, 4 Gillingham corners, 2 Lincoln yellow cards and 4 Gillingham yellow cards. Lincoln have scored at least 1 goal in all of their last 8 games and scored 2 or more goals in 5 of those games. Lincoln have also conceded in 7 of their last 8 games and conceded 2 or more goals in 5 of those 8 games. Gillingham have scored in 11 of their last 14 games and scored 2 or more goals in 8 of those games. Gillingham have also conceded in 18 of their last 20 games. So goals looks a very good bet in this games with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looking to have a great chance. The season stats also point to a good chance that both teams have at least 3 corners and see at least 1 card each. So whilst goals is the standout bet, this is a game where a bet like both teams to score, both teams to have at least 3 corners and 10+ booking points each team looks to have a very good chance.

Mk Dons vs Plymouth match preview

Mk Dons have lost 4 of their last 6 games and Plymouth have lost 4 in a row. The first meeting between these sides this season ended 1-0 to Plymouth with 6 Plymouth corners, 1 MK Dons corner, 1 Plymouth yellow card and 3 MK Dons yellow cards. We can get straight to the point in this game and say that with both teams horribly out of form they are also very up and down in corners and cards lately. So this is not a game where we could confidently recommend any bet. The season stats point to a very good chance both teams will have at least 3 corners, but Plymouth have had 2 corners or less in 3 of their last 6 games and MK Dons have only given away an average of 2.66 corners per game in their last 6 games. So whilst we may miss an opportunity this is one we are happy to watch from the side-lines.

Oxford vs Doncaster match preview

Oxford have drawn 3,lost 1 and won 1 of their last 5 games and Doncaster have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games. The reverse fixture was won 3-2 by Doncaster with 1 Doncaster corner, 5 Oxford corners and 2 yellow cards for each team. The season stats would suggest a good chance of goals in this but Oxford have lost their form in front of goal in recent games and have failed to score in 5 of their last 7 games  and have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 18 games. Doncaster have failed to score in their last 2 games so on this occasion we are happy to leave betting on goals in this game as recent form casts a pretty big cloud over the bet. Doncaster average 5.44 corners a game in their last 9 games and have had at least 3 corners in all of those 9 games. Oxford average 5.80 corners a game in their last 21 games and have had at least 3 corners in all of those games. So it looks likely that both teams will have at least 3 corners. Oxford have been given no cards in 3 of their last 6 games and Doncaster have been given no cards in 6 of their last 9 games, so cards looks like an angle to avoid. The best bet here is 3 or more corners each team.

Peterborough vs Portsmouth

Peterborough vs Portsmouth match preview

Peterborough have lost their last 2 games and are winless in 3 after going on a 6 game winning run before that. Portsmouth have lost their last 3 and have now lost 5 of their last 7 games. When the sides met earlier this season Portsmouth won 2-0 with 8 Portsmouth corners, 5 Peterborough corners and 3 yellow cards for each team. With both teams out of form the number of goals and result are both angles we are happy to leave on this game. Peterborough average 5.88 corners a game in their last 9 games and have had at least 4 corners in all of those 9 games. Portsmouth do add some doubt to corners as they have had 2 corners or less in 5 of their last 14 games, though they average 5.66 corners per game this season and have had at least 3 corners in 27 out of their 33 league games this season, so it does look likely that both teams will have at least 3 corners, especially as when these sides met before this season both sides had at least 5 corners and the game had 13. There also looks a good chance that both teams will see at least 1 card as Portsmouth ha e had at least 1 player booked in 28 out of their 33 league games this season and Peterborough have had at least 1 player booked in 25 of their 33 league games. So the best bet here is for both teams to have at least 3 corners and to both get at least 1 card.

Fleetwood vs Ipswich match preview

Fleetwood are unbeaten in 5 games, winning 3 and drawing 2. Ipswich have won 4 of their last 6 games, drawing 1 and losing 1 also. Goals is a bet to avoid as Fleetwood have failed to score in 11 of their last 21 games and have kept 3 clean sheets in a row. Ipswich have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 8 games and whilst they have scored in all of their last 6 games, they only average 0.90 goals per game in their last 21 games so are not exactly prolific goal scorers. The season stats point to an above average chance that both teams will have at least 3 corners though Fleetwood only average 3.16 corners a game in their last 6 games and Ipswich only average 4 corners a game in their last 6 games. So with both teams very close to the minimum line in recent games we are happy to not bet on corners in this one. In their last game Ipswich were given no cards, that is actually the first time all season that Ipswich have ended a game with no bookings as they have picked up at least 1 card in 32 of their 33 league games this season. Ipswich have ended with no cards in 3 of their last 9 games though they have ended with at least 2 cards in 4 of those games. So it looks likely that both teams will see at least 1 card, though Ipswich do add some doubt to that bet and with the risk/reward on offer we feel this is a game that it may be best to avoid.
